Who Am I?
I have a Bachelors in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I majored in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Child and Family Health, and I have a minor in Health and Societies. I am an aspiring writer and filmmaker, pleasure activist, mental, sexual, and physical health advocate, and black feminist. I have a passion for storytelling and facilitating radically honest conversations. I believe both help us foster more empathy and understanding among one other which ultimately will diminish the amount of collective suffering we experience (I believe a lot of it is avoidable).
I am a creative, free, sensitive, open minded, introspective, candid, and curious individual often perceived as calm, reserved, quiet, and shy. In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching YouTube videos and movies, and spending time in nature. Learn much more in future posts :)

Why Did I Start This?

Shame keeps us from seeking and accepting the support and resources we need in order to heal and cope in healthy ways. We are all navigating this human experience and we all have something we are struggling with and/or working on. Nobody should have to suffer alone or in silence or feel ashamed about any aspect of themselves or their experiences. A lot of the things we feel ashamed of are not even our fault. However, it is our responsibility as we learn and age to ask for help when we need it and to take accountability for our own healing because the degree to which we are healed affects how we show up in the world and how we treat others. I'm done being ashamed and suffering in silence.
This was my first ever tattoo. I identify with the sacral chakra far more than any of the other six. It is thought to govern how you experience sexuality, creative expression, emotions, and more. These are all values that have always resonated deeply with me even though our society, black women especially, are shamed for embracing these aspects of life. I got this tattoo on my wrist so that I would constantly be reminded to embody these values that are so true to my essence and incorporate them into everything I do :)
